Milne PicIan Mclauchlan Milne

Dr. Ian Mclauchlan Milne (D.D.S, M.Sc.), age 87, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 20, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Ian was born on November 30, 1933 in Dundee, Scotland. He served his military service in Malaysia, returning to Scotland and graduating from dental school at the University of St. Andrews.  Ian then travelled to Paris (Ontario), Brantford and then to Winnipeg to complete his orthodontic training at the University of Manitoba. Upon graduation, Ian practiced in Ottawa, and Manotick for a total of fifty years.

In addition to his busy Ottawa practice, Dr. Milne was a member of the cleft palate team and CHEO's dental team for over twenty-five years. He is a Past-President of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists and was a true mentor to young orthodontists who set up practice in the Ottawa area.

Ian was an avid fisherman and loved to golf, both at home and at various courses across Scotland and Ireland.  His love of travel opened the world to his family.  Annual Milne excursions included camping, fishing and ski trips throughout North America and Europe.

Ian is survived by his wife Janina, his children Christina, John, Peter and Stephanie and his grandchildren Elliot, Matthew, Aleda, Alison, Ian Milne, Martin and Finley. He will be sadly missed by his extended family, office staff, his colleagues, friends and golfing buddies.

The CAO extends its sincerest condolences to the Milne family at this difficult time.
