Obituary: Dr. Darcy Allen Dietz

Dr. Dietz of Edmonton, Alberta passed away suddenly at the age of 52 on Sunday June 2, 2019.  Darcy was born on October 27,1966, in Melville, Saskatchewan. He enjoyed and excelled in academics but was also an active participant in band and drama extracurricular activities.

Darcy attended the University of Saskatchewan and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989 and a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1993. During this period, Darcy received awards of merit for outstanding achievements and performance in undergraduate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Pediatric Dentistry. As a university student, he spent many hours entertaining crowds as a member of the Intensely Vigorous College Nine pep band.  After practicing dentistry in Warman and Saskatoon for seven years, Darcy continued his education at the University of Alberta completing a Master of Science in Orthodontics in 2004. He shortly thereafter established his practice in Edmonton, Alberta. 
Darcy was known for his passion for learning, his work ethic, his culinary skills, his love of travelling and his skills as a photographer.  Darcy was a valued and active member of the community as evidenced by his volunteer work at Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton, and as a supporter of the Southwest Edmonton Farmer’s Market. 

The CAO extends its sincere condolences to Darcy’s parents Charles and Doris, his sister Karen, brothers Mark and David and his many nieces and nephews during this difficult time.
